Because I loved travel so much, I decided to get my CDL-A and become a truck driver. A female in this business has some uphill climbs, but all in all I've had a good experience...until I had a bad one anyway.
I was the only female in my class of 13 at a local Technical College where I trained at night while still working my full time day job. It was challenging as I'd never pulled a trailer and never shifted a gear. I persevered as I went home crying every night and returned the next night even though I said I wouldn't. I persisted and ended up getting my CDL-A on the first try at the local DMV when the time came. It was a happy day after all that work!
